In addition to providing much-needed new homes, including affordable homes for local people, the proposed development will also feature extensive new areas dedicated as public open space, including green parks and linear green spaces for use by new and existing residents.
Within these areas there will be a variety of informal and formal recreational areas for residents of all ages to enjoy. They are intended to be characterful areas which will offer a range of local recreational opportunities, carefully designed to be attractive and safe. This includes a new riverside park which will provide recreational opportunities, for walking and cycling with areas managed for informal community use, ecology enhancements and the promotion of biodiversity.
An extensive network of footpath and cycle routes will serve the site and connect with existing Public Rights of Way, while public access to the riverside will also be improved.
